Julia Gruner conceives many of her works specifically for a special exhibition situation. This is also the case with the works shown at St. Agnes. Behind the title "Multisensory Entanglements" are large-format works created from high-resolution scans of colored pastes and liquids like those found in every household – including toothpaste, shampoo, cooking oil, sauces, cleaning agents and much more. The use of the substances as painting material and the high magnification through the scan allow visual aspects such as color, texture, opacity, but also the chemical behavior of the substances among each other to come to the fore. These ephemeral paintings captured in the scan arouse curiosity about the industrially manufactured prducts that surround us every day, which are perfectly tailored to every situation in life and about whose ingredients and manufacturing processes we basically know little.
